Dale Smith, P.E.


Dale Smith’s tenure with Geotechnology spans over ten years, but his engineering resume totals more than two decades. He is currently manager for the Collinsville, Illinois office and is responsible for project management of geotechnical investigation and design projects. Smith draws upon extensive experience in geotechnical engineering design and construction when working with clients. He also has experience in slope stability, foundation investigation, and design for a wide range of projects, including existing dams, bridges, stormwater systems, buildings, and industrial oil/gas facilities.


Smith has served as Project Manager on a number of key assignments for the firm, including Forest Lake Development in Caseyville, Illinois; Steel Center-Tri-City Regional Port District, Granite City, Illinois; McKinley Bridge Rehabilitation, St. Louis, Missouri; Venice Illinois I-55/70/64 Tri-level Interchange, East St. Louis, Illinois; I-70 Relocated and New I-70 at the New Mississippi River Crossing, St. Louis, Missouri; and a Railroad-to-Truck Freight-Transfer Facility, East St. Louis, Illinois.


As manager of the Collinsville office, Smith works to grow the work load and staff in the Illinois office by achieving corporate strategic planning goals, developing new projects with existing clients, and establishing new clients. He maintains strong relationships with clients and is the foundation for the company’s quality reputation in Illinois.


Smith is a registered Professional Engineer in Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, California and Kentucky. He holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California-Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla. Smith is the current secretary of the St. Louis section of ASCE, a former director of the Engineers’ Club of St. Louis and a current member of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching his children’s youth soccer team.
