Jim Howe

Jim Howe has worn many hats at Geotechnology, but most recently took on the role of Chief Financial Officer for the firm. He previously managed the Drilling Technical Group for over 18 years and still serves as the Corporate Health and Safety Officer (HSO). He is also Vice President and a minority owner of the firm. Howe is applying his expertise from efficiently managing budgets, marketing, proposal development and employee management for the Drilling Group to the firm as a whole. As the HSO, he is also responsible for developing and implementing the company's Health & Safety Program and to ensure compliance with safety procedures and rules.

Over the past 20 years, Howe's professional experience has been focused on the drilling/well installation industry. He began his career as a drilling engineer for Tenneco Oil in California where he honed his skills for 5 years prior to joining Geotechnology as its Drilling Manager in 1989. Howe has amassed a high level of expertise in a wide variety of drilling/sampling techniques as well as the installation of monitoring wells, piezometers and geotechnical instrumentation. His 17 years of experience at Geotechnology have allowed him to be become adept at scoping and pricing most any drilling/well installation project.

Howe's significant achievements include the successful management of numerous large, high-profile drilling projects throughout the Midwest, such as large-scale field efforts for RIFS projects and airport, roadway, tunnel, bridge and building construction. Howe is proud to have managed and successfully completed these projects, some which have generated the most single project revenue in the company's history, including Baumgartner Tunnel, Grand/Bates Tunnel, Lambert Airport, original Metrolink and Cross-County Extension, Weldon Spring Site Remedial Action Project, USACOE FUSRAP Sites, Westinghouse Nuclear Fuels Facility, I-170/I-270 Interchange, I-44/ US65 Interchange, and the New Mississippi River Bridge.

Since becoming the corporate HSO, Howe has coached his drill teams with an emphasis on safety, proving himself to be a vital force in reducing the company's EMR from 1.10 to .78 and in dramatically improving the company's injury/accident record. In 2001, he was given the company's Ronald M. Eckelkamp Leadership Award, and is only one of two employees to win the award.

Howe's primary goal for his team is to provide efficient and comprehensive drilling services to all clients. He truly practices the company's core value of teamwork/partnership in his approach to client service. Howe likes to be an active team member with his clients and be involved in a drilling project from inception so that he can best apply his expertise to recommend the most cost-effective means of performing the work at hand. He targets clients who recognize the value of Geotechnology's services and expertise so that his services are an added value to clients and their projects.

Howe is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Drilling Association, a national organization dedicated to the training and certification of professional Geo-Environmental drilling contractors. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa.
