Steve Fults, P.E.
As
Steve Fults manages the specialized Non-destructive Testing (NDT) Group, a discipline within the
broad Construction Materials Testing Group, which he previously managed. Fults's true passion
is NDT and he is now focusing his efforts to market NDT, train field representatives in the
specialty, develop NDT applications and provide professional NDT consultation and services.
Fults joined the firm in 1999 and contributed to the firm as materials testing engineer before becoming Materials Testing Group Manager. He is personally motivated by the gratification of adding value to a project and providing quality services that result in a safe and successful completion of a project. His excellent record of performance and strong relationships with clients have helped the firm attain many high profile projects, including the new Cardinal Stadium, St. John's Mercy Heart Hospital, BJC Children's Hospital Expansion and Ameren power generation projects.
With over 20 years of experience in materials testing, Fults uses his skills to focus on the field of non-destructive testing and has personally conducted over 2,800 inspection evaluations of structural steel, above-ground storage tanks, boilers, piping, crane rigging, and bridge iron. He has broad experience involving soils, concrete, concrete mix designs, asphalt, fireproofing, fasteners, welding and load testing of structures. Fults also is regarded as an expert in non-destructive testing of concrete and masonry structures.
Fults works to develop a professional, well-trained staff that provide detailed, comprehensive materials testing services so that Geotechnology is the preferred materials testing firm in the area. Fults believes it is essential to be a hands-on manager and constantly keep the lines of communication open between client, contractor, and field personnel to provide responsive services, coach his staff, and to solve any challenges as soon as they arise.
Steve Fults is a registered Professional Engineer in Missouri and holds the following national technical certifications: ASNT Level III in ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and liquid penetrant testing; AWS Certified Welding Inspector, ICC Structural Welding and Bolting Special Inspector, API 653 Above-ground Storage Tank Inspector, and API 570 Process Piping Inspector. Fults holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
